Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
FlixEngineering LLC, located at 13609 Lesina Ct, Estero, FL 33928, USA (“us”, “we”, or “our”), operates the Holger's Code website (the “Service”) and is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with the Service.
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service.
We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, accessible at https://holgerscode.com
Information Collection And Use
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) may include, but is not limited to:
- Name
- Email address
- Optional information you provide via the contact form: company name, phone number, subject, and the content of your message
Server Logs
Like every web server, ours automatically records standard access log entries when you visit the Service. These logs may include your IP address, the user agent string your browser sends (browser type and version, operating system), the URL of the page requested, the HTTP referer, and the date and time of the request.
We use these logs solely for operating the Service: diagnosing technical problems, ensuring availability, and protecting against abuse (for example, rate-limiting or blocking malicious traffic). We do not aggregate, share, or analyze server logs for marketing or visitor-tracking purposes, and we do not use any third-party analytics service. Log files are retained only as long as needed for these operational purposes, typically no more than 30 days.
Reader Statistics (First-Party Analytics)
To understand which blog posts are read and roughly where our readers come from, we record a view event when a blog post is opened. Each view event includes:
- the post that was viewed and the date and time of the view,
- your IP address,
- an approximate location (city, region, country, and approximate coordinates) derived from your IP address, and
- the browser family and operating system indicated by your browser's user agent string.
This processing happens entirely on our own server ("first-party analytics"). The approximate location is determined locally using a self-hosted copy of the GeoLite2 database created by MaxMind, Inc.; your IP address is not transmitted to MaxMind or to any other third party for this purpose. Location accuracy is deliberately coarse — typically city or region level, and often less precise on mobile networks. Requests from automated clients (bots and crawlers) are excluded from these statistics.
We use this data solely to understand the readership of our articles. We do not build individual visitor profiles, do not track you across other websites, do not use this data for advertising, and do not share or sell it. IP-to-location lookups are cached for at most 30 days; view events are retained as part of our long-term readership statistics. You may request deletion of analytics records relating to your IP address at any time (see "Your Privacy Rights" below).
To avoid counting the same visit more than once, your browser stores a small per-post marker in sessionStorage. This marker never leaves your device, contains no identifying information, and is deleted automatically when you close your browser session. No cookie is used for reader statistics.
Cookies
We do not set tracking or analytics cookies, and our reader statistics (described above) work entirely without cookies. The only cookie used on this site is an authentication session cookie that is set when the site operator signs in to the private administration area; regular visitors never receive a cookie from us. Your browser may also store small functional preferences (for example, your selected light/dark theme) in localStorage on your own device — this data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to us.
Service Providers
We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service, to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.
These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Hosting & Fonts
This site is built with Next.js and served from our own infrastructure. Web fonts and other static assets are served directly from the same origin and do not transmit your IP address to third-party CDN providers.
Analytics
We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service. Reader statistics are collected and stored exclusively on our own infrastructure, as described under "Reader Statistics (First-Party Analytics)" above — no third party receives this data. We do not set any tracking cookies and do not require a cookie consent banner.
Contact Form (Discord)
When you submit the contact form on this site, the information you provide (name, email address, and any optional fields such as company, phone, subject, and message) is transmitted to a private channel on a Discord server operated by us, using a Discord webhook. Discord, Inc. (United States) acts as a processor for this transmission and storage.
- Purpose: to deliver your inquiry to us so we can respond.
- Legal basis (EEA/UK/Switzerland): your consent, given by voluntarily submitting the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete the message (see "Your Privacy Rights" below).
- Access: the destination channel is private and accessible only to the site operator. We do not forward contact form submissions to any other third party.
- International transfer: because Discord, Inc. is based in the United States, your submission is transferred outside the EEA/UK. Discord relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for such transfers. See Discord's privacy policy at https://discord.com/privacy for further information.
- Retention: contact form submissions are retained in the private Discord channel until the inquiry has been resolved and is no longer needed for follow-up, typically no more than 12 months. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
If you prefer not to use the Discord-backed contact form, you can email us directly at the address listed under "Contact Us".
Security
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Links To Other Sites
Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, secure, and improve the Service
- Understand which articles are read and roughly where our readers come from (first-party reader statistics)
- Respond to inquiries you send us
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with third parties for marketing or analytics purposes, and we do not use any third-party visitor-tracking services. The only data we routinely collect about visitors is the standard web server access log and the first-party reader statistics described above.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you reside, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal information.
- Objection / Restriction: Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at holger (at) flixengineering.com. We will respond within a reasonable time frame and in accordance with applicable law.
For California Residents
We do not sell personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). California residents have the rights described above and may submit requests via the contact email.
For Visitors from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the lawful bases on which we process your personal information are:
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for security, fraud prevention, and basic operation of the Service (e.g. server access logs), and for the cookie-free, first-party reader statistics described above, which involve no third parties, no cross-site tracking, and no profiling.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for information you voluntarily submit through the contact form. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.
We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. Reader statistics are processed entirely on our own server, including the derivation of approximate location from your IP address. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA/UK (notably to Discord, Inc. in the United States for contact form submissions), such transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children’s Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it from our records.
Compliance With Laws
We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law or subpoena.
Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
